These photos were taken in early January 2009. I have been to Zion many times, but never before in winter. The contrast between the color and texture of the landscape and the snow unusually striking and a joy to photograph. I could hardly put down my camera. A surprising side benefit of visiting in the winter was there were so few people, compared to the summer months, when it is packed with tourists.
